Celestials

Archangels

Agents of Methaeus’s will, Archangels are dispatched to enforce that will on planes so Methaeus doesn’t need to interfere directly. These beings are gifted a portion of his mystical power, and are known to be extremely potent, even to the degree of rivaling some of the minor gods in power. They are each unique, but are largely undocumented as they’re fairly aloof and only appear rarely. Especially since the end of the Spirit War, few— if any— archangels have been seen.

Kitsune

Fox spirits of Furusato, Kitsune are unique from most other kami and yōkai in that they’re celestials. This is the result of a gift and duty from the God of Hope, Feritho. As a sign of goodwill between the celestials of Furusato and the rest of Ithuan’s pantheon, kitsune act as spirit messengers for the immortal beings of their land. As a Kitsune ages they grow an additional tail every hundred years, which increases their power. Once they reach nine, they cannot grow any more tails and their power is often comparable to that of powerful Archfae or Demon Lords. However, their mischievous nature has led to many Kitsune being corrupted, and becoming malevolent. Examples include Tamamo-no-Mae, a legendary nine-tailed sorceress and temptress who desires to become the Empress of Furusato. She has become a dark figure in folktales and legends due to the consequences of her past attempts at usurping the throne.

Nazalites

This group of corrupted spirits serves the God of Slaughter, Lord Nazal, and were knightly celestials that once served as the emissaries of Gothrag before he was turned to darkness. Now, they act as officers in the dark armies of Gorgabad, wielding newfound dark powers. They number but four, and are frightful foes. They are:

  • Lord Kazar, the Cursed Blade, is an assassin and spy of the Ashen Land, who slips away in the dead of night after striking with his poison-dipped daggers. Few who see him, see anyone else after the fact.

  • Lady Bartimus, the Dark Storm, is a hammer wielding brute that leads the front line of Gorgabad’s army, smashing through enemies, lightning crackling around her. Most soldiers tremble at her name, and dare not cross her orders.

  • Lord Ammet, the Annihilator, serves as the Tactician and archmage of the Black Spire. This spirit uses corrupt elemental magics to lay waste to foes, and his keen mind to concoct devilish plans of conquest. His schemes drive much of Gorgabad’s war machine.

  • High Commander Newada, the Flames of War, is the right hand of Lord Nazal, and one of the leaders of Gorgabad’s army. This cruel and relentless warrior drives his troops forwards, his burning sword and dark shield raised, ready to decimate his foes with a single advance.

Honored protectors of Ithuan created by Methaeus, the Sorceria are celestials with spectral wings designed to mimic the magics and appearances of the great mages of the Spirit War. These four guardian spirits helped the people of Ithuan overcome the armies of Gorgabad, led by Felldrel, the Golden, Methaeus’s favored Archangel. They are known as a force to be reckoned with, and the most powerful sorcerers to have ever existed. Though they lost their leader to the blade of Gothrag, they were able to strike the weapon from his hands with their mightiest spell and thus render him vulnerable enough to be defeated. To this day Merlin, Walen, and Brandon wander the mortal planes in search of magic, heroes in need of guidance, and dark plots to obstruct. While they are figures of legend, the Sorceria are very real, and are actually spotted fairly frequently in troubled areas of Ithuan (with the notable exception of Nightport).
