Light Shall Banish the Dark

The Radiant Gods are the agents of the third of the Founding Gods, the powerful Methaeus. They are powerful forces against evil, and are the most responsive to mortals, and the most active of the divines. However, their definition of good may be difficult for mortals, as they perceive things on a scale larger than we can.

Methaeus, God of Magic

The Mage King, Founding God of Light, Spellcraft, and Good. Methaeus pursues evil without fail, even as the weakest of the Founding Three, he is a mighty being with the ability to control the Nexus, the very lifeblood of magic throughout most of reality. He is quite zealous when it comes to fighting evil, frequently expressing that any evil is reprehensible, and encourages the rooting out of darkness and the confession and absolution of sin. He knows nearly all can seek redemption, but he worries that lives can be lost in the time it takes. He is responsible for creating the Nexus, the Sorceria, and was one of the beings that caused the Great Spirit War when he came into conflict with his own brother. Like his siblings, Methaeus is near omnipotent, and is incredibly powerful, even more so than any Major God, which he’s created several of. Methaeus lost one of his three eyes in battle with Dalthneshtar in the last centuries of the Spirit War.

The Archivist, God of Knowledge

The keeper of books, the Archivist is a very powerful Major God with the power to know near everything that has occurred. They were originally Methaeus’s personal bookkeeper, but now acts as the collector of information, overseeing the immense collections of books and recounts they and others have written, a copy of every book ever made lies within the Cosmic Arcanum. The Archivist has made an agreement with Zek to avoid interfering or giving the answers to things that could substantially alter the course of events. The Archivist is capable of appearing in multiple places at once, and even teaches at Scathe due to their immense knowledge.

Selmara, the All-Mother

The Queen of Giants, Selmara is the one-eyed Major Goddess who rules the Divine Realm of Niflheim, where enemies of the Gods are often imprisoned, and the colossal caverns full of strange creatures. To survive in Niflheim is to possess great skill, and a quick wit, things that Selmara values. Those of a good disposition who prove themselves in her realm are awarded a reincarnation upon their death. She towers at several miles tall in her full form. Her eye was cleaved out by Gothrag, her eldest son, and now she is known as the Half-blind Goddess.

Shardross, the Dragon Father

The first of the legendary lizard monsters, Shardross is a golden scaled celestial dragon with four eyes, and who is larger than any Dragon Lord. He was the first to conceive Lindwyrms and dragons, with the first of the dragons being Iquatet who rebelled against him. Now perfectly matched, Shardross seeks a way to strike down his rebellious daughter. In the meantime, he acts as the messenger of the Star Realms, carrying messages between the various gods across space at incredible speed.

Motsognir Forgebinder

The God of the Forge, Motsognir is the Lord of Dwarves, and works closely with both the giant gods and with Artificis, innovating with one and creating for the others. He revels in craftsmanship, ingenuity, and the treasures of the earth. His greatest inventions were the primordial weapons, weapons that have elemental (primal) spirits bound to them to supply great power. He also is able to hammer out magic into a physical substance. When a dwarf dies, it’s traditional to create their likeness out of stone or magically petrify them, as to create for another is a profound show of respect both to them and to Motsognir himself.

Feritho, God of Hope

One of the youngest gods, Feritho is the God of Hope and Valor, the new God of Knights, acting in place of the fallen Gothrag. He never raises a weapon, instead wielding only a shield in opposition to Gothrag’s more violent style. Feritho dwells in Niflheim watching over the prison of his forbearer with a vigilant eye, and answers prayers as often as he can. However, he is also a believer in Methaeus’s zealous ideology, encouraging his believers to seek out and smite any evil.

Jotun, God of Sky Giants

A Minor Giant God, Jotun is a god of cold and wind, wielding his powers to trick his brother, and using incredible magic. He is a fierce rival of his twin, Titan, and spends much of his time causing him mischief. The rest of his time is dedicated to protecting the Stratus Isles, the last holdout of his children. He also has at various times attempted to make advances on an incredibly disinterested Archfae named Skathi, who was raised by Sky Giants and takes the form of one often.

Titan, God of Earth Giants

Titan is considered a kind-hearted brute amongst the divines. This minor god encourages his children to enjoy nature and shape it with magic rather than tools. Titan spends a good deal of time challenging himself in Niflheim or sleeping amongst the mountains. He and his brother’s rivalry splits the warriors in Niflheim between them into groups that try and outdo one another in feats.
