The Demon Lords

Ketaris, Demon Lord of Rage

Ketaris is a hulking brute, looked down upon by most of his peers for his singleminded destructiveness. He takes the form of a crimson skinned fiend with four blackened wings, a rack of horns, hooves, and a scorpion’s tail. His skin shifts and ripples like freshly cooled magma, the heat within sometimes cracking his flesh, volcanic gasses spewing forth. Ketaris wields a colossal axe-blade morning star that has power over the elements of earth, fire, and air, using it to cause eruptions of fiery gas at his foes. Ketaris has languished at the bottom the hierarchy due to his inability to out smart or overpower the other Demon Lords. He is the Master of the Hephest Waste, a realm of basalt fields, empty lava tubes, and some active rifts of gas and flame. This Domain within the Endless Abyss is one of the least hospitable, and is one of the lower lands. Ketaris himself dwells in a large fortress, ever on the edge of his temper.

Belial, Demon Lady of Lust

Though typically appearing as a Succubus, Belial is technically a genderfluid concubus, and the most powerful among them. Despite being on the weaker end, Belial is considered an ambitious Demon Lord with excellent skills of manipulation, and is thus watched closely by their betters. Belial rules the Palaces of Pleasure on the Maelstrom Peaks, a high-set domain within the Endless Abyss, where marble palaces of debauchery sit embroiled in eternal thunderstorms. Belial wields the magic of lightning and is known to deceive mortals into believing them an Angel or some other beautiful Celestial. Belial is known to be one of the most accomplished shapeshifters in the realms, hidden from most mortals and many immortals regardless of form. They are a dangerous trickster, and are quite a temper, and shouldn’t be regarded lightly.

Relas, Demon Lady of Ruin

Relas is the partially insectoid daughter of Gothrag and Arachnis. She has the upper body of a huge woman, and a crab-like lower body. Relas relishes desolation and war, holding dominion over the Doomwake, a realm filled with ruins that resemble the architecture of various mortal civilizations. She rose up in the wake of her predecessor, Kalthe, the Demon Lord of Nightmares when she with the help of Baba Yaga, overthrew him. She is a strong willed conquerer who desires to join the ranks of the Generals of the Endless Abyss, and rise in rank. She fled to the Endless Abyss with her mother after the Spirit War, and rose in rank from there, finally becoming a demon lord two thousand years ago.

Sartak, Demon Lord of Ash

Sartak is a scarlet scaled fiend with a will of iron. His features are muscular and vaguely draconic, though concealed within black armor. He wields the infamous Sword of Dread Authority, a weapon designed to be the bane of Fae and Celestials across the multiverse. Sartak is Asharderis’s most trusted General, and a powerful foe who takes great joy in proving his martial superiority. His commanders are hardened by time in his great colosseum within his domain of the Ashen Citadels, a realm of volcanic debris, and huge fortresses with iron reinforced sides. Sartak is the first Black Knight, and is a fearsome warrior, his wings and claws nearly as deadly as his sword. As the First General of the Endless Abyss, Sartak commands a huge fighting force and spends a good deal of time and effort into maintaining its superiority.

Dispater, Demon Lord of Iron

Lord of the Industrial Empire, Dispater rules from the City of Iron, where he takes the form of a tall, red scaled wingless humanoid with hooves, an internal flame burning in his chest, and a noble crown of twisted horns. He wields a tall iron staff with a white golden ring at the top, known as the Hellish Gaze. With his staff in hand, Dispater serves as the Second General of the Endless Abyss, using his realm as a center for trade and using those resources to build massive weapons of war and invent new engines of destruction. Dispater is infamous for currying favor with others to cement his power, and his favor with Asharderis is undisputed. The sly nature of this Demon Lord creates a tendency for him to be one of the most common warlock patrons, as he’s more than happy to cut a deal with power hungry mortals.

Balbrazu, Demon Lord of Decay

Cloaked in black, this skull-headed fiend has long claws with which he can flay flesh and soul. His form beneath the robes is indistinct, but Balbrazu is feared regardless. This ancient fiendish terror has laid claim to the Catacomb Fens for eons, a realm full of ancient tombs, foul waters, and noxious air and plants, and has no plans on giving it up soon. A fawning coward, Balbrazu is too afraid of Asharderis to even think of betraying him himself, but is happy to let others do it and sneak in to steal away their reward. This remorseless scavenger has a reputation as the patron of necromancers, and is obsessed with death. He has had dark dealings with both the Ghoul King and the Lord of Skulls in the past to secure his power, much to the ire of Oetheus. He cares little for the Goddess’ anger however, as he gladly lends what he’s learned to those willing to offer him an interesting trade. Mephistopheles despises Balbrazu, due to the threat he poses to the former’s acquisition of the Staff of the Endless Abyss. The two are among the most powerful Demon Lords and have been jockeying against one another for a long long time.

Mephistopheles, Demon Lord of Lies

The Lord of the frozen desert of Mephos, Minor God of Ambition, Mephistopheles is the most frightfully powerful of the Demon Lords and the only one to pose a threat to Asharderis's reign. This scheming mastermind has plots upon plots and deals uncounted, most tying into his obsession with the Staff of the Endless Abyss. Mephistopheles is a cold hearted Demon Lord who delights in excessive cruelty and seeing his plans come to fruition. He fancies himself Asharderis’s rival, and has even laid hands upon the Staff of the Endless Abyss. How he has escaped the crippling punishments that those who have done the same have faced is a mystery to most. Scholars suspect that Mephistopheles ambition and corruption impress Asharderis, who sees in the dark schemer much of what he hoped demons could become, and can’t find it in his heart to demote him. Whatever the cause, Mephistopheles won’t hesitate to take advantage of it in his quest for power. Beyond that he controls his realm with an iron fist, and has numerous arcane experiments and new types of demons in the works at any one time whilst he searches for secrets to empower himself. If he has his way, one day ever Demon Lord will kneel before his majesty whilst he sits upon the Hellfire Throne. He has grey scales and crystalline spines with six charred wings that emanate a cold aura of fear. He wields a small ornate mace and dresses in grey and black imperial finery with a twisted darksteel crown. Do not underestimate this dark lord who rivals the Gods for power, he is a menace, and a lying bastard who is irredeemably corrupted by his machinations.
