The Great Nightmares

Great Nightmare; Dread

The dark crowned head of Dread leers at all who stand before it, its four twisted arms reaching, its horrid corrupted heart beating in its blackened decayed ribcage. Its slimy robes drag behind it as this dark entity skulks through the dreams of the damned. Great Nightmare; Dread is a methodical and manipulative being that twists perception and commands the Nightmare Shades most directly, and of the two abominations trapped within the Ziggurat of Primal Terrors, Dread is the more potent of the two. While the second smallest Great Nightmare, Dread is also the second strongest. Its fearsome appearance underlined by its dark psionic powers.

Great Nightmare; Hatred

A hulking figure of muscle, fur, skin and bone broods in the corner, this distorted figure drags itself about like a mix of an insectoid dog and a primate of some sort, its sightless red eyes glance around wildly, and its massive tusks outline its massive warped face. Hatred is a brutish monstrosity that insights a haze of madness and anger, causing armies around it to crumble and conflicts to erupt. It was known as a servant of Gothrag during the Spirit War, and allowed the armies of Gorgabad to crush their opposition, until the elves made a deal with Mabuka and her hunters to subdue it in exchange for the crafting of her legendary bow. After that, Hatred was dragged away and bound in the Ziggurat of Primal Terrors within the Nightmare Realm, thrashing and struggling while Dread plots more subtle machinations. Hatred is the weakest of the Great Nightmares and by far the most aggressive

Great Nightmare; Horror

In a cascade of seawater, a horror of the deeps rises, its massive body covered with tendrils and boney spikes. One of the more mysterious of its kind, Great Nightmare; Horror is know as the Regent of the Rift by the denizens of Kerios, this flesh-warping beast twists and corrupts that which should be certain, our own forms. It patrols the deep, where the others corrupt the mind, it frightens by corrupting the body, and perception. This monster is cruel and elusive, slumbering deep below the waves, waiting for its master to call it to rise from the deep to raze mortal cities. Great Nightmare; Horror is the largest and second weakest of the Great Nightmares.

Great Nightmare; Null

A mysterious being hidden from perception, the indistinct figure in the corner of your eye, the shadow within a mirror, Great Nightmare; Null holds domain over the fears of dying, being forgotten, and the void beyond. β€œShe” is a inscrutable entity that grows stronger off of the ignorance of the frightened, able to cause instant fatality when she is looked upon by those with feeble minds. Null is rarely seen, and those who have rarely have enough shreds of sanity to recount it reliably. A frightful eldritch entity, Great Nightmare; Null is the strongest and the smallest of her ilk.
